Domaine Marcel Deiss

The Deiss family has been in Bergheim, Alsace, since 1744 through a long line of winegrowers, blacksmiths and bellfounders. Founded in 1947, Domaine Marcel Deiss has 38ha of biodynamically farmed vines. A master of co-planting, Jean-Michel Deiss, who took over the family estate in 1981, offers his own interpretation of the interaction between soil and grape varieties with the aim to put the terroir at the forefront, without the ubiquitous constraints of a single varietal. Thanks to such unparallel approach in Alsace, Domaine Deiss' signature wines are magnificent renditions of their respective terroirs. Today, it's Mathieu Deiss, Jean-Michel's son, who is the manager of the domaine.
